Try with gimx-loader ("Help>Update firmware" in gimx-launcher). Maybe they loaded a Arduino Leonardo compatible firmware.
EDIT: note that the wiring has to be correct for gimx-loader to work.

In the screenshot I can see "USB adapter detected, controller type is: G27 PS3". Which means that you managed to load the right firmware. Make sure to unplug/replug the cable quickly.
And open the device manager to see if there is a new COM port when you replug the cable.

You have to load the EMUG27PC firmware: in gimx-launcher, click on "Help>Upgrade firmware" and follow the instructions to the letter.
And yes, you have to plug both ends into the PC, which will be used as both source and target in your case.
