Did any of your attempts change the way Windows recognizes the board?
If not, it still should be possible to load the blinky sketch using the Arduino software. The result will tell if the board is defective.

You may also try to hit the reset button instead of unplugging/replugging the cable.

First make sure the wiring between the cp210x and the Arduino Leonardo board is correct.
Then start gimx-loader and follow the instructions. The pro micro side equivalent is the Arduino Leonardo.

Hi,

This is probably a problem with the SDL2 library, which is used to handle joysticks on Windows.

I opened a new issue: https://github.com/matlo/GIMX/issues/476
I have no idea about when I'll have some time to work on it.
