That's because you did not change "Type" to "Dualshock4" as Matlo said above.

Just select event is Axis up/down, auto detect will detect pedals event.

When gimx said "Please press PS assigned button", please refer to config to see which button is PS. Press it and you're good to go.
Due to log file, you did not press PS button so nothing happened.

It will work but it should be considered as experimental. You will face issues but it's good to go

gimx service will start (not gimx UI), you won't see anything on desktop.
Just press PS binding button and you're ready to play.

It worked on Ubuntu and Raspbian stretch, Armbian too.
