Dead zone Shape

Post by Dannytk »

Hello to all,

Does anyone knows a way to change the shape of the dead zone.. cause normal config only have like circle and square.. but for many games the shape of the dead zone is like ellipse or kinda butterfly?

Mattlo can we change the shape of the config and if so how?

Thanks for your work!

Hi,
I moved the topic to the GIMX discussion section.
Circle and square are the only possible dead zone shapes for now.
Which games require another dead zone shape?

Battlefield 4 / hardline for PS4 uses Ellipse shape.. Other input interfaces like XIM/ venom etc.. they use the ellipse shape to fine tune the dead zone.

thanks and cheers!

Hi,

I had a look at how the gimx translation works, and it turns out the dead zone is an ellipse when using the "Circle" shape and different values for the x and y axes.
This is not possible through gimx-fpsconfig, but it can be done using gimx-config or the mouse calibration tool.

EDIT: Do the xim / venom really allow using an ellipse for the dead zone? I wasn't able to find something about it in the manuals...

Hello Matlo,

I've search more about Xim and venom configs and you are right about the shape being a circle and you manage it though x/y.

I think what realy makes a big difference is the smart translators.. it will help you find the best ballistics curve.

Thanks for your time and help.

Here the info.

"Smart translators" are produced by a software that measures the rotation speed for different stick positions.
It requires a 1080p video capture card, a lot of time to develop the software, and a big amount of money to buy all FPS games for all platforms...
