Move Controller (PS3) instead of DS4 for PS4?

Post by Hinge »

Hi,

The Move Controller of the PS3 is able to launch the PS4 and operate it. Thus one can assume that the motion controller needs to authenticate like the DS4.

Is it not possible to use this and "save" the DS4?

So you can use the DS4 and another controller (for example, Logitech RumblePad) for Coop at home.

What can I do to support it?

Hi,
I don't think the PS move uses any authentication.
I think Sony only white-listed the PS move.

Hi,
I know the technical details of this software, but if I permanently need for various pads / wheels / mice the DS4, so the PS4 thinks there a DS4 is used, then you can not instead join the Move-Corntroller?

The Move-Cotroller can fully operate the PS4 as a standalone.

In case of your software: what is the difference between whitelisting and authentication? It is important only for the operating system or for each game?

Many games do not support the PS move.

Authentication means cryptography is used to prevent any third-party manufacturer from making a compatible controller without paying license fees.
White-listing means allowing very specific controllers to be used, with or without authentication.
