GIMX + RPi 3 + PS4

Hey all,
I'm new to the forum so I hope this question wasn't asked before.

So with the RPi 2 we need to connect a DS4 to the system so it does the authentication of the device with PS4, from what I could pick up the reason for this is because the PS4 does authenticate through bluetooth, so in theory with the RPi 3 this step wouldn't be necessary because the chip contains a bluetooth module.
Is this true? Could we use RPi 3 as an authenticated device for PS4? This could essentially replace PS360+ PCB or brook boards.

In any case you need a Dualshock 4 as the authentication source.
