question about the possibilities of GIMX

I am playing Overwatch on the PS4.
Assuming i did all the gimx setup properly done, is the following possible?:
Additionaly to my DS4 controller i want to use a footswitch (the ones that are used by e-guitar players). The footswitch should be mapped to the X and O buttons. All other input should come from the DS4.
I understood, that there must always be a DS4 be involved for signal authentication with the playstation, but can this DS4 also be used as a input device at the same time?
