Battlefield Bad Company 2

Post by angrywabbit »

Hey All.

I have recently started using GIMX.

I have mainly installed it for use with Bad Company 2, and there are a few things i just dont understand!?

The config file for it seems to be way off the mouse config tutorial... for example the DZ, it says to change value X until it stops, then set it to when it just starts moving again. Mine is 17 x and y.
The config is set to 31 x and y.

Will that value need to change with different mice?

Or am i just not understanding? lol.

The most puzzling thing though is setting the acceleration!

The config defaults to 31 x and y.

I'm not sure if i'm understanding how to set it up properly...

i set my cross hair to a specific point on screen, is it supposed to go back to that point again with the right values?

I've changed the values here there and everywhere, and it never seems to make sense.

I've followed the guides word for word and it's just not smooth enough.

Or is it just down to the mouse i have? which i know it isn't for gaming.

Logitech nano vx.

Thanks Peeps.

Unless the game was patched, the values from the config should still work.

Did you set the in-game sensitivity to the highest value?

Did you increase your mouse frequency?

Did you configure mouse smoothing?

I checked the values.

You are right about the dead zone. Increasing the dead zone allows to increase the minimal speed, which is too slow (at least, for some people like me) in BFBC2.

The acceleration curve of BFBC2 does not fit an exponential curve, and because of this it's impossible to have a perfect result for the acceleration test.

ahh i think i see what you mean lol.

I purchased a new mouse today, and i'm getting a much better result, still a little lag there, because i have the buffer set to 20, and smoothing to 1.

I purchased the Steel Series Black Ops 2 mouse. 5670 dpi.

One question you may be able to help with.

The mouse has a button to switch between dpi... which can range from 90-5670. and is really handy in bfbc2!

Only problem is, in windows there is the software to change the settings of the button. For example, i could have it set to 500-4600.

Its windows software! and the mouse comes pre-set at 4600dpi.

Is there any way of changing it in ubuntu? and finding out what it's set at currently?

Thank you :)

oh also, the mouse frequency is 1000hz

when i change it using the tweak, i restart and check in the terminal, and it says it's set to 1.

But in the gui, it says 100hz at the bottom of it?

I think i am probably getting it mixed up, so just let me know. lol

The mouse frequency and the GIMX frequency are two different things.

As said on the wiki:
  • Set your mouse frequency to 500Hz (1000Hz is overkill).
  • Set your mouse DPI to the highest value
  • Set the game sensitivity to the highest value
