Hey All

Post by Joss »

Hi everyone,

Felt i should introduce myself before making any request topics.

I was originally searching for a macro project which would work on the PS3. I had the idea of implementing something which would utilize a macro for DJ Hero on PS3.

Now i searched for a while (months and months ago now) and returned nothing. It was only of late that i discovered this project and thought, hey this just might work for what i want. Emulate the DJ Hero turntable and use a macro for the notes. If you think its possible then id be glad to hear your thoughts however...

For now I'd just like to say Hi and hope to try this out soon.

Hello and welcome!

I guess a macro like that would depend on whether the turntable is actually just a PS3 controller in "disguise" or not. If it's sending any kind of device ID to the console (so you'll be prompted to connect the turntable if it's not connected for example) it'll probably not work with the current version of GIMX. If it's only mimicking a PS3 controller, or you can play DJ Hero using one, it's very much possible you can make such a macro.

Now, this is all just my gut feeling though, so let's hear what Matlo has to say - he'll set me straight if I've misinformed you ;)

You have to connect the dongle for the device so i guess you would be required to emulate the id of turntable and connect to the dongle.

I have tried to research about the communications between the two but very little information is on the internet. It has been done with the wii version of the controller to PC but nothing on PS3.

I would be glad to assist Matlo if he needs more information.

Before investigating with Linux, could you plug the turntable controller to a windows pc, see in the device manager if it's detected as a joystick, and see if the controller state (buttons, axes) is correctly displayed?

Using Windows 7.

The device installed and connected without a problem.

The device is installed as "guitar hero 5 for PS3".

Testing the device all buttons work apart from (or don't seem to have a test for these):

* The whammy dial does not do anything or there is no test for it.
* The crossfader does not do anything or there is no test.

As I said, all buttons work fine and even spinning the turntable shows the Z Rotation test working.

I can get screenshots should you require them.

Thanks

Joss
