This looks like a large heat-shrink tubing.

if it was a huge heat shrink tubing, which one would you suggest to use better? tubing or tape?

Looks like it might be in a block of plastic out of the box or perhaps hot glued, like I've done with this USB stick:

For the sake of simplicity I'll only "officially" suggest electrical tape but feel free to be creative and do some macgyvering :)

Can you buy the jumper cables that go from the teensy to the usb adapter separately? I'm totally non-technical, and I can't seem to find the ones with the plastic ends that attach to the circuits. If you could provide a link to the kinds of cables I need to buy, that would be great.

Thanks! I can't wait to build my PC -> PS3 adapter!

This is what you're looking for if you already have the serial converter.

@ bjaigorgor it's a block of plastic as McKack said (tape will do just fine).

One thing I noticed was that in order for the adapter to work with your PS3, you have to plug it in to your PC and PS3 while the PS3 is turned off. Then, run GIMX serial and press start. Lastly, you can boot your PS3. If you don't run GIMX before running your PS3 it won't work... at least for me. Once I do the startup sequence and the PS3 is on, I can start/stop/edit whatever with GIMX.
