Failure to Update Firmware (DIY Adapter)

Post by SeanDeanC »

I am trying to make a DIY GIMX Adapter but seem to be having issues. I bought the following hardware:

DSD Tech USB to TTL Serial Converter CP2102 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072K ... UTF8&psc=1
OSOYOO Pro Micro ATmega32U4 Board - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012F ... UTF8&psc=1

I have wired as shown below:

I connect both to my PC, the USB to TTL shows up on COM3, red LED for USB comes on and turns off some times. The Pro Micro has one green LED and two red LEDs always on. I have yet to see an RX/TX LED flash on the Serial Converter. When attempting to update the firmware I get:

I've tried shorting RST to GND on the Pro Micro shortly after reconnecting the Serial Converter.

My process thus far:

Connect both devices -> Launch GIMX Launcher -> Start Update Firmware -> Select desired Firmware -> Click Load -> Click OK on the next two prompts -> disconnect and reconnect Serial Converter -> above error occurs every time.

Any help or input appreciated.

Try disconnect AVR board side and reconnect it.

Thanks for your help. That or some combination of things worked...

For me I did the following...

Plug in USB to Pro Micro
Connect Ground wire to USB to TTL Serial Converter
Connect Rx and Tx to wires to USB to TTL Serial Converter
Plug USB to TTL Serial Converter into PC
Start Load
Only unplug and re-plug in the Pro Micro
TA DA!
