Hi! I need a little help with using GIMX to set up a Logitech G29 to emulate a G27 on my PS3.
I think the problem is that the correct firmware isn't loading on the adapter.
This is my log file:
https://pastebin.com/nDLmRS6s
I bought the GIMX adapter in the official shop on gimx.fr.
firmware (version + folder + file, for example 5.4/EMUPS4/atmega32u4.hex)
- I don't know where to find this? (see update below)
Gaming target: PS3 (fat)
Game: Gran Turismo 6
Controller: Logitech G29 wheel & pedals (with shifter)
PC: Ubuntu 18.04.
We followed the set up instructions generated by the wiki:
https://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=Gu ... eringWheel
We used the gimx-launcher and attempted to load EMUG27PS3 firmware according to the wiki directions.
We ran into a problem loading the firmware where it a window kept telling us to unplug/replug the USB cable (this step isn't covered in the directions which makes me think it might be an error?) and when we do this we get an error that the device wasn't found within 10 seconds. I've searched and haven't been able to find a solution to this error. We tried multiple micro-USB cables.
From the log file, it seems like this is trying to emulate a G29 on PS4?
If the problem is the firmware not loading, how do I get that onto the adapter?
Thanks!

I still haven't been able to figure out how to verify which firmware is actually on the adapter -- I searched the wiki for "firmware version" but I couldn't find any results that told me how to find that info. The adapter doesn't seem to be accessible as a storage device so I can't see any file structure on it. I did look in /usr/share/gimx/firmware but I don't see any file structure like 5.4/EMUPS4/atmega32u4.hex
This is what I have:
This is what I have:
Code: Select all
/usr/share/gimx/firmware$ ls
EMU360.hex EMUG27PC.hex EMUGTFPS2.hex EMUPS4.hex EMUXONE.hex
EMUDFPPS2.hex EMUG27PS3.hex EMUJOYSTICKPS3.hex EMUT300RSPS4.hex
EMUDFPS2.hex EMUG29PS4.hex EMUPS3.hex EMUXBOX.hex

Hello,
In the Guide it says "Select EMUG27PS3, click on "Load", and follow the instructions", that also includes instruction about replugging, it's necessary to do that because of how adapter works. Please make sure you plug both cables to PC and you replugs the adapter, not microUSB->USB cable.
I just checked and here's the exact message "Unplug/replug the USB cable from/to computer USB port". I admit it may be misleading and I'll consult that with Matlo.
Every adapter is shipped with EMUG29PS4 so that's FW present on your adapter for now.

Oh wow, I totally misunderstood the directions!GoDlike wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 11:54 am In the Guide it says "Select EMUG27PS3, click on "Load", and follow the instructions", that also includes instruction about replugging, it's necessary to do that because of how adapter works. Just to clarify, should we be using two cables, so it looks like: PC - cable - adapter - cable - PC ? Or can the adapter plug directly into the PC?
And we should unplug/replug the adapter.
Thanks so much for your response! I'll report back later.

Like on the guide page scheme you can plug it directly to pc and the other side with cable.

Okay... back with an update...
What am I doing wrong?
- I plugged the adapter directly into the USB port on the PC.
I plugged the micro-usb cable into the adapter and a second USB port on the PC.
I opened gimx-launcher and selected update firmware.
I selected the firmware I want and clicked load.
It told me to unplug/replug, and I removed the adapter from the USB port (I left it plugged into the micro USB cable)
I plugged the adapter back into the PC.
What am I doing wrong?

gimx-loader says "Unplug/replug the USB cable from/to computer USB port.".

Okay, I borrowed an laptop with Windows 10.
I installed the gimx software (64 bit) and went through the steps in the guide to install the firmware.
https://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=Gu ... g_firmware
It did prompt me to install an Arduino driver. I said yes. (Not sure if this could be the problem on Linux?)
I made it past the unplug/replug step.
A terminal opened, and I got the following error:
avrdude: butterfly_recv(): programmer is not responding
It just kept scrolling that every couple seconds until I CTRL+C'd out of the terminal.
Then it failed with the error message:
Failed to load firmware.
Not sure what to do now... ?
(Thanks for helping me with this, it's really nice of you!)

Oops! Should I be unplugging the cable from the port, not the adapter? I'll try that now.
