Technical question about the UART-USB converter for PS3 repair

Post by Phoenix101 »

Hello, my question is not strictly related to the Gimx adapter so apologize for that.
I need to try to diagnose the issue with my broken PS3 slim. To do that, I have to read the error log inside the syscon. To do so usually involves using an UART-USB converter like that one used for the GIMX converter. The syscon needs 3.3v. So I need to understand if my UART could be feeded with 3.3v and at the same time be sure to not damage the syscon.
This is the datasheet of my UART (the same model used for the GIMX guide).
https://www.taydaelectronics.com/datash ... A-1991.pdf
Anyway, I don't have the basic knowledge to read and understand datasheets so maybe Matlo or some else could help me.
From the datasheet I read the UART can work with 3.3v but I'm not sure if I have to set something (see page 13-15 cap 10 voltage regulator)
Thank you

Checked voltages on pins 3 6 7 and 8 with the default configuration. Everything was fine and UART worked as expected.
