Hi @Matlo!
Would it be possible to simply use/connect the ATMEGA device (Teensy, etc.) through the RPi serial interface directly connected?
This would allow anyone who uses/has a RPi to connect directly to the device without the need of an USB to Serial device.

Note that running the AVR board at 3.3V is not an option as it would not allow to run the AVR chip at 16MHz.
