xbox one + DIY USB - No response to control inputs

Post by KungFuJedis »

I'm very new to GIMX, so I apologize in advance for any simple mistakes I've made. I've done my best to google my issue and look through the wiki for solutions, FAQ, and through these forums. Hopefully, I'm doing something simple wrong.

I followed the DIY USB adapter for dummies faq as closely as I could. The only variance I am aware of, is that my CP2102 looks slightly different from the one in the pictures. It took me awhile, but I figured out that I needed a xbox one controller connected to the PC. Does it matter that it is a wireless controller that is wired? (vs a wired only controller). I was confused about what order I needed to turn things on and off (the adapter, controller and console), but I tried various combinations. I made sure that the controller was off when I plugged it in. The order, as I understand it (assuming USB is plugged in to both PC and xbox). is to turn on the console. plug in the controller, start the launcher.

The launcher appears to run fine, but the xbox does not respond to any of my inputs (mouse and keyboard).

Welcome, it's good to see more xbox users here. :)

1st of all, this is my startup process - I have found this makes a difference.
Powerup PC and xbox.
Connect DIY USB assembly to PC.
Connect DIY USB assembly to xbox (I use the side port, not that I think that matters)
Connect xbox controller to PC - wait to hear/feel the controller vibrate.
Start GIMX launcher, select the configs you want and then hit start.
*do not make any inputs on keyboard/mouse for a second or two* If I do, the connection between the PC and xbox is not successful. After a couple seconds it should work just fine.

Something else to check, is to make sure you've replaced the USB driver for the xbox controller in Windows.

When you start the GIMX launcher after selecting the configs you wish to use, does the smaller black command-prompt looking window open and stay open ?

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated.

I reproduced your startup procedure. My controller did not vibrate, but it did light up after I plugged it in. Maybe that is indicative of a driver issue which you mentioned? I see it in device manager as xbox peripheral / xbox controller / Microsoft 10.0.10586.0. What do I replace the USB driver for the xbox controller with? A GIMX related driver? I must have missed that part of the directions if so.

When I start the launcher, it does stay open. If I set messages to text, I can see the kyb/mouse inputs being processed.
