Timer Fired and Eventually Non Responsive

Hi all,

Xbox One
Xbox non 3.5mm audio controller
Acer Aspire One
Mint Linux
USB Adapter
MS Habu 2000DPI

For the most part GIMX has been operational, but I do receive an excessive amount of the "timer fired" line in the terminal; this makes the mouse caliberation process extremely difficult. It will function fine for a short while (15-30 minutes) then it will cause no response from either the controller or kb/m. Hitting Shift+Esc and restarting the GIMX program fixes it but the terminal box soon fills with the "timer fired" line.

What is happening and how can fix it?

Thanks kindly,
Bryan

Hi,

Which Linux Mint version do you run?

This is a performance issue.
The trace means GIMX wasn't able to send some reports because it was not scheduled by the OS.

Make sure to close any other program.
Disconnect from the network to prevent system task to run in the background.
Start the process manager and check no program is doing CPU-intensive tasks.

Also, running GIMX as a command line in a non-windowed environment may give better performances (don't log in, and press ctrl+alt+f1).

Hi Matlo,

Thank you kindly for responding to my question. Your work ethic is something to be proud of.

The Aspire One is an old and slow system for sure; the CPU is an Atom @ 1.3GHz and even moving windows slows it down.

I am currently running Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa XFCE 4 32Bit (CPU Limitation) and will try to run the program in non-windowed mode.

I still experienced many timer fired lines even in terminal mode, but it was much better, even without mouse calibration!

Thanks again Matlo. :)
