I'm not able to use the aforementioned buttons to open up the multi function display, where you adjust things like TCS and brake balance whilst driving so I've been having to use the directional buttons instead.

Is there a way to solve this problem?

Problem solved. I used the wrong HEX file because I selected the one for the Teensy 2.0 when I've actually got the Teensy 2.0++.
