Just to confirm when you press start is the console powered up as it can give that error when you try and run it before the adapter is powered from the console side.

Have you tried a different cable between the adapter and console your soldering looks good to me.

On what console do you want to use it because it will normally display AU on the display when waiting for authentication, even GIMX requires a genuine gamepad for PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 to authenticate.

Glad its working, as for the port not showing I know some programs like the ones used to monitor a UPS could cause the port to be non accessible but you could check all the programs in your startup to check if there is anything that could be causing it.

Are you connecting it directly or using a USB Hub ?

For that config the PS button is bound to backspace can you confirm if you pressed it, you can use the fps config utility to remap it to another key and try again

Yes you set messages to log file the command window will be blank until you exit or it shuts down then it will open a text document with the log

I would recommend soldering the wires to the adapter as it gives a more stable connection. Can you create a log file and wait for the disconnect to happen and upload it to pastebin and post link here.

If you open the file with the config editor is the type set to 360pad ? From the log file it looks like its still set to Dualshock 4
