I said in the announcement thread for GIMX 0.30 that this feature should be considered as experimental.
This means it may work or not depending on the hardware.

Hopefully this feature will get stable in a future version.

It's still experimental. You may have to try several times before it works. It also may not work at all, depending on your xbox controller.

It appears that the calibration is broken in Linux.
I opened issue 167.
I will fix it and make a new package ASAP.
You can safely downgrade to v0.25 as the config files are backward compatible from v0.30 to v0.25.
