How can I help with Xbox One support?

Post by LiveWireBT »

Hello, I got my hands on an Xbox One and I am willing to help out with everything I can to make Xbox One support in GIMX happen.
  • I have a working PS4 DIY setup, so I was at least that smart to read and follow instructions.
  • I'd humbly say I have some Linux experience and I am willing to dig deeper and learn more.
  • I have setup a test installation of Ubuntu 15.04 and already created a profile with the button mapping using the Xbox One controller connected via USB. Older releases don't include the kernel driver for the pad.
  • It looks like we "just" need an Xbox One compatible firmware for the Teensy, is that right?
However:
  • I do not code for a living, actually I don't really code at all.
  • I am aware that this looks like a shady and sneaky version of a "please support my console without me having to donate to your project" kind of request. :( I have been using GIMX on the PS4, though I don't play much, and I should have already donated for that. I will do so in a few days (edit: I just did), I just wanted to ask how I can help out before doing so. (Well that didn't sound very convincing.)
  • I very much like the open source and DIY nature of the project.
---

Rather unrelated to that, I still don't have a wired original X360 pad, but a MadCatz Fightstick Pro for X360 with the following USB ID

Code: Select all

Bus 003 Device 069: ID 1bad:f03a Harmonix Music
I get the following error message similar to this thread: GIMX 360 Help

Code: Select all

libusb_open_device_with_vid_pid
Spoof failed.
connector_init failed
So I first tried flashing the X360 firmware to the Teensy, connecting it properly to the Xbox One which did not work and then I tried the same with the Teensy conencted to the X360, which also did not work. (And then I started VLC to record the content of the terminal window that was gone to fast to read.) I tried replugging the fightstick controller, but it's still the same. So okay I learned that GIMX was trying to spoof some controller, which wasn't present.

Hi,

Working on hardware that I don't own takes a lot of time, and my free time is limited...
I did not get enough donations to buy a brand new Xbox One, but I'm actually trying to get a second-hand one :)

Good news, I bought a second-hand Xbox One :)

I'm not sure it will work with a Teensy 2.0 because it does not support bidirectionnal endpoints. I may be able to work around this issue.

Dev here, have an xbox, might be able to get a G27 soon and be available to help. What do you need / what would you suggest as a good point to start and read about the underline systems?
