Difficult to say since it has the classic cheap mass-produced covering. It could be as good as a $1.99 BT Dongle or a $19.99 one. Most likely it'll at least let you change the btaddr temporarily.

I have a question for anyone who may have the answer.

Is using Linux the only way to tell if a BT dongle is Bluecore4-rom; or will the packaging say it somewhere on the box?

Thanks.

Linux is the only known way to tell it.

99.99% of the time the packaging doesn't say if there's a bluecore4-rom inside.
I only saw it a single time on the pluscom packaging.

Ive been doing a little research but so far it seems that Cirago BT adapters all contain CSR chipsets. will continue looking for more information and will order one and confirm when it arrives. These are available for around $20 on newegg.com or .ca

Still waiting on delivery, but have confirmed that at least 3 of their models use the BC4 chipset according to various reviews and forums. They include the BTA-6210, BTA-3210 and the BTA-3190 which is actually advertised as a bluecore 4 chip on Cirago's own site. Once again i will confirm if working or not when it arrives along with all the other parts to my new computer. DIY Yeaaaahhhhh!

Confirmed Cirago BTA-6210 is a bluecore4 cambrige silicon radio chip. permanently changed address. works. now to fine tune to get rid of uneven mouse movement. using a g9x 5700dpi

Hello.
The bluetooth inside my laptop MSI GX660 didn't work ( but Cambridge Silicon Radio and BlueCore4-ROM).

I bought "00049232 Hama Nano Bluetooth USB Adapter, version 2.1+EDR class2" (France, Intermarché) and it works great.
Manufacturer : Cambridge Silicon Radio (10)
Chip version : BlueCore4-ROM
Price : 14.99€

This is a great possibility. Thx

Besides looking at that list, is there any way to know prior to buying one dongle if it does support this change of bdaddr? I am looking at ASUS USB-BT211 and dont know if it supports this.

I've also already got an old generic dongle, plus internal bluetooth on a laptop. How do i know if they support this?
