remote -> lirc -> gimx -> ps3

Has anyone tried using this software in conjunction with lirc (http://www.lirc.org/)?

I've been looking for a good way to control my ps3 with my universal remote (my universal remote doesn't support bluetooth). Sounds like this could be a possible solution.

The setup would be like this.
remote -> lirc -> gimx -> ps3

GIMX interfaces with mice, keyboards and joysticks. If lirc can emulate one of these devices, it will probably work out-of-the-box.
