Driveclub VR Demo FFB - Logitech Driving Force EX

Post by uNreal »

Hi all,

I have the Logitech Driving Force EX wheel (black PS2 version) and I've followed the tutorial to build the adapter successfully.
My components are Arduino Pro Micro + CP2102. The problem I'm having is that in WRC5 demo I have full FFB+vibration but in Driveclub VR demo I only get vibration..? There is no spring on the wheel and it's unplayable. Full FFB works in PC.

I was just wondering how it is possible that one PS4 game would have the effect and the other one wouldn't? One thing that *might* be the reason is that I'm using a slightly underpowered AC brick for the wheel, but if it works fine on PC and another game, it *should* work on Driveclub, right?

Yes, it should work in Driveclub. Maybe the demo has limitations.

I haven't heard anyone not having FFB in the demo though... and now I can't buy the full game for this reason.

Would it be possible to test out somehow?

PS: It might seem that the demo would not have FFB as an option perhaps, but it definitely does since the settings menu provides strength adjustment.

Maybe the protocol translation is incorrect.
Please select "debug" in the "Messages" drop-down menu, and click on start.
Select "log file" and click OK. Select "ff_lg" and click OK.
Play the Driveclub VR demo for about a minute, and stop GIMX.
Then post the log file on pastebin and post the link here.

Here you go:

Driveclub VR no FFB: http://pastebin.com/eMd2yv8w

And for comparison - WRC5 demo with FFB: http://pastebin.com/GcN18rhv

One difference I can spot is that with Driveclub I keep getting this EXTENDED_COMMAND UNKNOWN 4 - 0x01 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 error whereas with WRC I only get it 3 times.

Just to add up on the AC adapter front: my wheel requires 24v 0.75A adapter but I was using 16v 300mA one which was working fine. Thought to give another one a try, which was 19V 3.42A - still same story. I suppose I don't need to invest in a proper one since this doesn't seem to be the case, right?

That's strange because the spring effect is there.

Do you have confirmation that this wheel works with FFB on Driveclub? If so, then it's probably worth getting the proper AC adapter and having a go...

I got a 24v 0.8A power adapter and it still doesn't work.

Does this wheel not work then?

I'll try to replay the ffb commands from the log file against my DFGT.
The result will tell if the issue is specific to the DFEX or not.
It may take more than a week before I have some free time for this.
