Hmm, the other cables are short and official Sony cables, so I doubt there is an issue.

Maybe you could try with Ubuntu 14.04, using a Live USB session.
That would tell us if it's a hardware of software issue.

This is happened to me too (Win7 / G27 / PS4 / Project cars)
Got it working then the wheel just froze in place, no buttons or anything worked except the DS4 controller which still let me use the PS4.

Please select "Messages>Log file", start GIMX, reproduce the issue, and post the log file content.
