You only need to fill the keyboard/mouse names if you want to use multiple mice and/or multiple keyboards.

What's your mouse? What's the config? What's the game?

Please try the config "PS3_ReadDeadRedemption_yeicob.xml" that is available through "Help>Get configs".

If it doesn't work: check everything again, read the wiki. You probably misconfigured something.

I have gone through the tutorial many times doing everything it says from what i can tell i have done it all right,
when i open the gimx-serial and click start it seems to work but the ps3 isnt picking up the mouse and keyboard and when i click the button on the Atmega32u4 Board the ps3 says unknown usb device detected.

I will uninstall the emulator later and all configs and start from the beginning but i will record a video of me doing it so you can see what i am doing wrong but i think you will agree i am doing it right.

If you connect the atmega32u4 board to the PC, is it detected as a joystick?

no it just detects it up as a atmega32u4 board.

Did you reset the device? Using Flip, this can be done by clicking on "Start Application".

Yes I did that, but Flip only detects the board if connected to the pc with the mini-usb cable. This also prevents me from selecting com3 (com1 doesn't work).

When connected to the pc with the regular usb cable (and connected to the ps3 with the mini-usb) the pc doesn't seem to recognise anythin. I seem to have a permanent "unknown device" in device manager, wether the board is connected or not. That might have always been there though.

Since it's not being detected by windows as a joystick, that must be why the ps2 says its an unrecognised device. Do you think this could be a driver problem?

The driver is in C:\Program Files\Atmel\Flip 3.4.7\usb.
