Game Input MultipleXer

I followed everything listed in the following guide, but once I get to the last part that says: "Now if you're in the menus of your console and press the WASD or arrow keys on your keyboard, you should be able to navigate through the menus, meaning you've succeeded! If not, or if something went wrong elsewhere, go back and make sure you followed every step to the letter and try again, then let us know if nothing you try works."

I'm not getting any controls at all when using WASD with the keyboard on PS3 menu but before I ask in any more details, is my DIY USB connected properly?

Mine came with 5 wires instead of 3, so I left the 2 extra one unconnected and only connected the orange/yellow/green ones as listed in the guide. Do I still need to connect the red and brown ones or leave them unconnected just like I did?

the GIMX software version: 3.5 i386 (downloaded directly from link in the guide)

the OS: Windows 7 Home, 64 bit (TOSHIBA Laptop)

the DIY USB adapter:
USB 2.0 to UART TTL 6PIN Module Serial Converter CP2102 (bought on ebay but as mentioned above, came with 5 cables instead of 3)
Teensy with pins (bought from link in the guide: http://pjrc.com/store/teensy_pins.html )
Mini USB A Male to USB B 5 Pin Male Retractable Cable (bought on ebay)
USB Male to Female Extension Retractable Cable (bought on ebay)
I didn't put everything in a matchbox with tape yet since I want to make sure it works first

the console: FAT 60GB PS3 (the model that can play PS2 games) with latest firmware (4.66)

the game: My problem is that I have no controls so I can't even access the game, but I wanted to try some FPS like Bioshock 1 and 2.

the controller: My laptop keyboard + normal laser mouse.

I used the included "Uncharted 2" config since it's close to the controls I want, but I tried using other included configs and making my own as well, but no luck.

Any help would be appreciated!

What firmware did you load in the teensy?

Do you mean the part in the guide that says: "Press the button on the Teensy and the LED should turn off. In Teensy Loader, open atmega32u4.hex from the firmwares folder on your desktop."? If so then I did exactly that, I downloaded the firmwares from the link listed in the guide ( http://gimx.fr/download/gimx-firmwares.html ) and loaded atmega32u4.hex from the PS3 folder.

What happens when you press the start button?
Does any window appear?
Can you make a screenshot of it?

I get the same result that it says in the guide, the only difference is the % at bottom. I connect the Teensy with the USB cable to my laptop the press the button on it, open atmega32u4.hex, and this is the screenshot I get:

Then I press "Program" and it says "Download Complete" then the reboot button and it says "Reboot Ok" then it goes back to this screen:

I meant, the start button of the gimx-launcher software.

Oh sorry. Yeah there's a blackscreen that pops up for a millisecond with text that says:

option -c with value 'Bioschock.xml'
option -p with value 'COM3'
subpos flag is set
force_update flag is set
WaitForSingleObject failed: timeout expired.
No controller detected.
Connector_init failed

Couldn't even test the thing, so I guess one of the parts must be defective or something. Oh well, I give up. I'll just try playing with the PS3 controller. Thanks anyway for the help.

By the way, did you power your PS3 on before starting GIMX?
It is a case where the "No controller detected." happens.
