Logitech DFGT on PS4 - joystick not found when checked

Hello Matlo, I first want to say thank you for this great piece of software. I am more than happy that I was not forced to go and buy a new, very expensive wheel with my non-existent budget, very cool thing you have here.
I've been having an unfortunate issue with the mod lately however, and it is becoming very difficult and tedious to get it working so I can race with my group of sim friends on Project CARS. I've read and searched high and low for someone else having the problem I have been having and so far I have not been successful, hence this thread. So here's what happens when whatever circumstances aren't correct for proper functioning of the mod.
plug in teensy to PS4
plug CP2102 USB end into hub with wheel and a powered down controller
plug hub into computer
turn on PS4
start GIMX (happens in both 5.7 and 5.8)
wait for PS4 to say press PS button to start or whatever that "welcome" screen says
select DIY adapter, port, input, config
uncheck grab mouse
check config says: joystick not found: Driving Force GT USB (0)
Start the program and this happens:
Driver file operation error. DeviceIoControl failed (Cannot create a file when that file already exists. Error code = 183)
option -l with value `log.txt'
option -c with value `LogitechDrivingForceGT_G29.xml'
option -p with value `COM3'
grab flag is unset
status flag is set
subpos flag is set
force_updates flag is set
GIMX 5.7 x86_64
Windows 8.1 x64
Kernel version: 6.3 (9600)
native mode command sent to HID device \\?\hid#vid_046d&pid_c294&mi_00#8&1f842731&0&0000#{4d1e55b2-f16f-11cf-88cb-001111000030} (PID=c294)

libusb_open: Other error.
No controller was found on USB buses.
adapter_detect failed
Now the odd time, and it's frequently more odd each time, it finds everything and then runs like a champ until I've finished playing.
To sum up all the hardware info, I am using:
teensy 2.0 board with pins
CP2102 board with supplied "jumper" cables
5.4/EMUG29PS4/atmega32u4
PS4
Driving Force GT
Black stock PS4 controller that comes with the system
4 port Insignia USB hub
Project CARS
Again, this is a great piece of software, I absolutely love that I can use my old wheel with my PS4. When I have some money together I would be more than happy to donate you some as this is something that is worth more than the parts cost to get it working.
Thanks very much for this, and your help.
