Any pad should work as long as it works with PC.
I used 360 pad with PS3 by gimx

It will only work for the authentication if it has the same USB VID:PID as the genuine wired controller (0x045e:0x028e).

Hi Matlo, I have one chinese-cheap xbox360-compatible controller, recognized in linux as:

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 045e:028e Microsoft Corp. Xbox360 Controller
, and
do NOT work with gimx & Xbox360:
