GIMX recognizes G920 as "Xinput Controller"

Post by pelicano »

Hello.

Suddenly, after a week or something of not using it, both gimx-launcher and gimx-config started displaying the message "joystick not found: Logitech G HUB G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB (0)". When I go to gimx-config, all my inputs are registered as "joystick Xinputcontroller 0". This only happens on Windows, as I just tested on my Ubuntu drive and it worked flawlessly. Screenshots below:

My G920 is working normally, both through my PC (on Assetto Corsa, e.g.) and on PS4 via GIMX on Ubuntu 21.10.

Checked (doubt it is any of this, as it worked on Linux without changes):
- GIMX is connected to PC and to PS4;
- Wheel and pedals connected to PC;
- Dualshock 4 turned off and then connected to PC;

Already tried:
- Restarted computer;
- Do a configuration with "Xinput" instead of G920
- Reinstalled G HUB
- Uninstalled G HUB and installed Logitech Gaming Software
- Reinstalled GIMX

Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I also reinstalled my G920 drivers (removing and deleting drivers from device manager) and the problem has not been solved.

Also tried that, sadly. Reinstalled, didn't work and then uninstalled. Now running G HUB again. Yesterday I uninstalled all drivers I could find that had relation to the wheel and installed again, but with no luck :cry: .

It's weird. GIMX tries to read the input device and windows passes him XINPUT device like a controller. Not a wheel that uses direct input.

Yeah, it's getting on my mind. Tried everything that I could. Next step is to debug GIMX code, but I would like to avoid that lmao.

If you have Steam installed might be worth checking Steam Controller Settings as it can change how various "controllers" are detected by Windows in an attempt to increase compatibility with games.

I had a USB Gearstick being detected as a Xbox Controller which was causing me issues in racing games. I had to go to Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > untick "Xbox Configuration Support" in my case.
