Gimx cable and the USB OTG

Post by BAL3IA »

As I understand, gimx cables are necessary because it is not possible do connect PCs and consoles directly, as they are both USB hosts and it's protocol and physical ports won't allow it. Of course, the firmware installed on the atmega32u4 does more than just physically connecting two hosts, since it must "bridge" the USB requests from both sides, redirecting them to the right endpoints. But, my question is, with the OTG feature in mostly all dev boards now, is there an alternative for anyone with a SBC like this to get rid of the gimx cable and connect the console directly to the board's OTG usb port? Did Matlo work on this? Should I expect something like this?
