Making it work on Xbox 360?

I've seen a few threads discussing the topic, but I can't seem to find any answers on how to do it. Can someone write me a little tutorial on what is required and how to do it? And possibly tell me if the DYI adapter can even do this?

For XBOX 360.
You need :
- PC running Linux (UBUNTU 11.10 is the official supported and now LINUX MINT)
http://blog.gimx.fr/?p=559
- DIY USB Adapter.
here
- A USB wired XBOX 360 controller.
- GIMX 0.30 and higher, last is the best.
here
- Firmware regarding XBOX for the Teensy board. (in the DIY adapter)
here if official MS controller or
here for a compile your own firmware with non official controller
-
The Teensy Loader
Once you got everything above.
1. Flash the Teensy Board with 360 firmware as explained in
this method
2. Plug DIY to PC
3. Plug USB XBOX 360 controller to PC
4. Open XBOX
5. Launch GIMX
6. In Serial section Select good serial port
7. In Controller section Select "360 pad"
8. Click on "Spoof", Validate and then you have less then 5 seconds to plug in the DIY Adapter to the XBOX.
----- If not successfull, repeat untill it is. On my first experimentation it took me 2 or 3 times to handle this part flawlessly.
9. Start emuclient
10. Enjoy

Thanks for making it a lot more clear to me, however I have these questions though:
1. So there's no way you can do this on a Windows machine?
2. And is it possible to just use the wireless gamepad (with a cable connected to it)?

You're welcome

Not for now.

If youre Wireless controller is connected and detected by your PC, mabe...
you will have to look on how to connect and use the wireless controller on linux, but you will have to get a wireless USB transmitter to your pc. there is a couple of hacking site where they are talking about this.

I know some people are running GIMX inside a virtual machine (such as virtualbox), but it's not officially supported.

No. It's possible to make the wireless gamepad work with Linux using a wireless adapter, but it still won't work with GIMX.

It will be a permanent borrow, once you try, you don't go back

You can by a cheap MadCatz or buy a used one.

Will it actually be on par with e.g. the XIM Edge/XIM3 in terms of performance? Because I've thought of getting one of those just for my 360.

The 360 support in GIMX is experimental only...
The XIM Edge seems more adequate if you want something that works immediately.
The
Cronus is also a good product, and it can be used with GIMX.
