MMOexp: Unlocking the Infuse Weapon Skill in PoE 2

Post by Florencehg63 »

In POE2 Currency, the Huntress class provides players with a unique mix of agility, elemental attacks, and tactical ranged combat. One of the most powerful tools available to the Huntress—especially through the Amazon Ascension—is the Infuse Weapon passive skill. This ability offers a creative and devastating way to deal elemental damage and amplify projectile attacks without the need for an active skill button or a skill gem.

Let’s explore exactly how Infuse Weapon works, how to unlock it, and how to use it effectively in your builds.

Unlocking Infuse Weapon Through Amazon Ascension
To gain access to Infuse Weapon, players must complete one of the Huntress’s unique class trials: either the Trial of Sekhmas or the Trial of Chaos. After completing either of these trials, players can choose their Ascension path. Selecting the Amazon Ascension unlocks access to the Elemental Infusion node on the Ascension tree.

The best part? It only takes 2 Ascension Points to unlock Elemental Infusion, and since even the lowest-difficulty version of the trial awards enough points, this powerful skill is accessible very early in a character’s progression. With minimal investment, players can begin leveraging the explosive strength of Infuse Weapon.

How Infuse Weapon Works
Infuse Weapon is a passive skill, meaning there’s no need to right-click, press hotkeys, or link it to a skill gem. It’s automatically activated in the background when certain conditions are met. It’s also a class-exclusive skill: there is no skill gem version, so other classes cannot use it—only a Huntress with the Amazon Ascension.

Infuse Weapon is granted by the Elemental Infusion node, and its functionality revolves around elemental charges and projectile attacks. The mechanism is described as follows:

Elemental Infusion Node:
When you expend an Energy Charge, gain 2 Cold Infusion

When you expend an Endurance Charge, gain 2 Fire Infusion

When you expend a Fury Charge, gain 2 Lightning Infusion

Infuse Weapon Description:
Imbues your weapon with enchantment. Making non-melee projectile attacks with this weapon consumes the infusion to infuse the fired projectile, causing it to explode at the end of its flight.

This means that once you've consumed a charge (Energy, Endurance, or Fury), your weapon gains two infusions corresponding to that element. Then, when you use a non-melee projectile skill, the infused projectile will explode on impact, dealing AoE elemental damage.

Triggering Infuse Weapon: The Three-Step Process
To fully utilize Infuse Weapon, you need to follow a specific sequence of actions:

Generate a Charge
Use a skill or passive that gives you elemental charges. For example, the passive Cull the Weak can generate charges on kill or on specific conditions.

Consume the Charge
Use a skill like Lightning Lance to consume a charge. When a charge is consumed, Infuse Weapon is triggered, and you gain 2 infusions of the matching element (e.g., 2 Lightning Infusion from a Fury Charge).

Use a Non-Melee Projectile Attack
Once infused, the next projectile attack (such as Twister Lance) will consume one infusion and cause the projectile to explode at the end of its flight, delivering potent AoE damage.

Infusion Limitations:
Infusions last 15 seconds.

You can have up to 6 infusions per type active at once (6 Cold, 6 Fire, 6 Lightning).

Only non-melee projectile skills can consume infusions.

Skills That Work Well with Infuse Weapon
The Huntress has access to several skills that perfectly sync with Infuse Weapon. These skills both consume the relevant charge and count as non-melee projectile attacks, triggering the explosion effect. Key skills include:

Lightning Lance

Explosive Lance

Storm Lance

Glacier Lance

Twister Lance

Each of these skills fits seamlessly into an elemental projectile build and can be used in different combinations depending on your preferred damage type (Fire, Cold, or Lightning).

Generating Charges Effectively
To keep the Infuse Weapon loop going, you’ll need a reliable way to generate the required charges:

For Fury Charges (Lightning Infusion):
The Battle Fury node on the passive tree grants Fury Charges whenever you Electrocute, Freeze, or Cripple an enemy. Among these, Electrocute is particularly powerful for a Lightning-focused build. The unique gloves Kitoko’s Current make it easy to apply Electrocute, boosting both charge generation and lightning damage synergy.

For Energy Charges (Cold Infusion):
A Frozen Huntress variant can use Battle Fury alongside a Resonance Node to convert Fury Charges into Energy Charges. This conversion allows cold-focused builds to rely purely on Cold Infusion without needing to mix charge types.

Infuse Weapon is a standout passive skill in Path of Exile 2 Currency that gives the Amazon Huntress an explosive edge in elemental ranged combat. With the ability to cause projectile attacks to explode based on charge consumption, this skill encourages thoughtful synergy between your passive tree, elemental charge generation, and active projectile skills.

Whether you favor cold precision or lightning-fast strikes, Infuse Weapon provides a powerful, automated way to enhance your damage output—making it one of the most exciting tools in the Huntress's arsenal.
