I'm hoping for a PC on Christmas and want to learn mouse/keyboard while I wait on console.

Have you tried plugging in mouse and keyboard to the console itself. Halo infinite has support for M/K. However if its good is another question

As far as I remember Halo Infinite has native mouse support on consoles
