Hello all.
I moved my setup to a different (my PC gaming rig) dual booted to Ubuntu 11.10, running GIMX .51. I did this because I don't have a USB adapter, and I had read that anything past 11.10 will cause delay issues (w/BT method).
First, 90% of the time, the emulator is flawless, in fact, brilliant. Much better than .39 or whatever older version I was running on Ubuntu 10.xx prior to this.
One odd issue: Totally random, my movements will become delayed for 1-3+ seconds.. it will clear up on its own. Sometimes starting/stopping the client, or restarting the emulator will help, but its random, and may not appear for 20+ minutes.
The PS3 slim is only 2.5 feet from my dongle.
One thing to note (maybe this will help with later ubuntu versions that still haven't been fixed): I had to backport some atheros drivers to get my E2200 Gigabit network adapter to work, this may (or may not?) have updated the BT wireless stack? So perhaps I'm at 11.10, but effectively 12.10+?
I have ordered a USB serial adapter, but its going to take 2+ weeks to get here...
Random delays with .51 BT, 11.10
Re: Random delays with .51 BT, 11.10
Hi,
I believe it may be due to a system task being executed in the background (such as the update manager).
Try closing all applications, and disconnect the network (ethernet/wifi).
I fixed GIMX so that it can run in latest Ubuntu-based distros. There should be a new version this week

Wow! Neat to hear you found the problem with the latest distro! I suppose I'll have a USB setup to sell to the community then.
I do run task manager during the spikes, don't notice anything consuming too much. I do have 8gigs of ram and a core i5. Might also have something to do with running Skype as well.
Can I set some form of process affinity or something to help the BT task?

I believe you should wait for the next release as it will allow you to run a newer Linux kernel.
